"Dashing" Through The Snow

Mark and I have been training and preparing for a 10K race called, "Run The Reagan." The city of Snellville closes down Ronald Reagan Parkway for a day for the community to enjoy. They have a fun run for the kids, 5K, 10K, and a half-marathon. Well, this year it just so happened that it snowed -a lot- the day before the race. We were not even sure we would be able to get up the hill from our house to make it to the race. Thankfully, we made it safely to the race in plenty of time and without any major issues. I was a little apprehensive about the whole idea of running a 10K (6.2 miles), despite the fact that it was literally freezing. I am so glad my friend, Christiane, ran along with me the entire race.

Mark and me post-run!!
Post-run celebrating! Whew - I made it!

Our little 10K running group - minus Kyle - not sure where he ran off to while we were taking the photo.
Mark and Kyle (The Goobs) post-run!

So, I am sure you are curious to know our running times! Well, my official running time was 1:07:39 = 10:53 pace per mile. Mark's running time was 55:38 = 8:57 pace per mile. Woo! I look forward to the next goal! Thank you Mark for motivating me to set new goals and have the courage to meet them - you are a great encouragement to me. I wanted to add one of my favorite parts of running the 10K was when I grabbed the cup of water along the path, literally chugged it, and threw to the side - like a "REAL" runner! I felt like a marathon runner you see on television!

Girl, I cannot believe you ran over 6 miles. That makes me tired just thinking about it! Way to go!
