Resurrection Day

The girls woke up to their Easter baskets full of candy and the new movie "Princess Tangled". We even had enough time to watch the movie before we left for church.
We had a beautiful morning at church celebrating Jesus' Resurrection! If you get a chance go to this link Anchor Church, then sermons to listen to the sermon from Easter Day. It will take several days for it to be loaded on the website, but it is well worth your time.
We took some time when we arrived home from church to take some candid photos. I love photos of the girls from behind and holding hands - pure and innocent!

We ended the day with a fun family afternoon at the park. Our new Easter family tradition is to take ice cream to the park for dinner - yes for dinner and nothing else! Can I just say - YUMMY!!! We arrived home, and Sarah said, "Can I have dessert?" Mark said, "Sure, we can have more ice cream, but just today!" Fun times, traditions, and memories being made!

Refashioned Skirt

I learned my lesson about washing instructions for clothing. The label said "hand wash only". Well, I was trying to do it the easy way, and well, let's just say the skirt was unwearable. The side seems had been frayed. Weep! Weep! Remember, it was my favorite skirt and has polka-dots, which makes it even cuter!!!

I couldn't bare to toss it, and I really do not have a clue about sewing enough to salvage it form the disaster. So, I decided to cut it up and reuse in my home decor!!!

I have had this floor lamp in the attic for several years waiting to find a home for it in our already tiny quarters. It was black, so I decided to spray paint it white to bring out the adorable white polka-dots in the "skirt".
I sprayed the lamp shade and skirt with spray adhesive, then placed the fabric carefully on the shade. I then used burlap I already had from a previous project to make a dainty ruffle/skirt around the bottom of the shade. I thought it needed something else, I added some thick twine around the bottom of the shade as well for a finishing touch.
I think it turned out adorable. I looks so cute next to my Papa's old school desk that I rescued from my parents' garage. The dainty white teapot on the desk was given to my parents when they married, and I think it adds to the antiquity of this space.

So, there you go - favorite skirt turned favorite lamp!!!

Farley Resurrection Celebration

We went to Grammy and Grandpa's house to celebrate Easter Resurrection Day. The girls enjoyed an Easter egg hunt.

This is my all time favorite photo of Hannah!!! I caught her hiding out under the dining room table with her Easter basket full of treats and mouth full of a Hershey kiss chocolate candy. Her eyes say it all - "UH! I've been caught! Who me eating chocolate candy - no - never!" Not to mention her shirt with "SMILE" on it! HAHAHA!!!
The next day the girls of the Farley family took Aunt Leslie out for her bridal luncheon to the Park Cafe in Duluth - delicious! We were grateful to be given a private dining room so the girls could be just that - little girls - loud and wiggly!

We enjoyed a fabulous girls luncheon celebrating Aunt Leslie and her upcoming marriage to her fiance' Todd. Yes, Sarah and Hannah will have two Uncle Todd's. We are very excited for Aunt Leslie and the new chapter she is about to start.

Field Trip Day

Our dear friends invited us for a free trip to the Fernbank Museum and to Stone Mountain for a picnic. We started out the day at 9:15 at the Joann's parking lot waiting for Andrea and her precious girls, Aubrey and Addison.

We left the museum and headed to the playground at Stone Mountain for a picnic lunch. We didn't get back to the parking lot to pick our van up until 4:30! Whew!!! It was a long, but very enjoyable day for all of us. Thank you to the Nash family for sharing with us!

Some Fun Easter Preparations

Oh, I just love Easter time - the cool mornings, warm days, pops of color in nature, pastels everywhere, birds, eggs, green grass, bare-feet, flip-flops, shorts, gardening (without a green thumb), grilling out, chocolate, park days, and of course, far more important than any of these the resurrection of our Lord and Savior! If it weren't for the glorious Easter day, we all would be destined for the pits of hell. Thank you Jesus for giving your life and shedding your blood for my sins!
Did I mention chocolate??!! I just adore chocolate!! So, when I came across these adorable marshmallow chocolate pops, I had to make them! Some of the pics were loaded out of order, so the pics of Sarah helping me make them are below.
I spray painted a clay pot with chalkboard paint, stuck oasis foam in the bottom of it, put some beautiful pastel grass over the oasis, and stuck the chocolate marshmallow sticks in the pot to make a precious edible mouth watering arrangement.
Mark's sister, Leslie, is getting married in June. So, she picked out these precious elegant dresses for the girls to wear. She graciously allowed the girls to use them for Easter as well.
Mark brought them home from work one day last week, and they were ecstatic! Sarah immediately started disrobing, putting on her necklace, her bracelet, hair bows, dress-up shoes, and grabbed her bride doll. Of course, Hannah just followed "Sissy's" lead. They danced around and twirled in their beautiful flower girl dresses.
Sarah's class had their Easter celebration with an egg hunt.
Hannah had fun joining in the fun with all of the big kids!
AH! Here's the photos of the chocolate marshmallow pops. I covered the marshmallows with chocolate, and Sarah drizzled them with pastel sprinkles.
Team Work!
Now, Sarah is helping me make chocolate bird nests treats. BTW - we did all of this while Hannah was napping. I don't think I could have handled that many "cooks" in the kitchen.

We covered chow-mein noodles with chocolate, but I think I will use pretzels next year.
Then, Sarah placed jelly beans on top of the nests.
We also made our traditional Bunny cake. I iced the cake, and Sarah decorated it.
Finally, we made homemade bread, well homemade by my standards. I used bought bread flour instead of grinding my own grain (Aunt Shari - that's for you!)!!!
I made the bread to try to teach Sarah about Jesus being the "bread of life." I think it went a bit over her head, b/c I was getting her to tell Mark why we made bread, and her response was, "I don't know Mommy, we just made it for dinner."
Way to go Mommy! Maybe I need to brush up on my teaching!
Like I said at the beginning of the post, I adore this season of the year! Happy Easter / Resurrection Day to all of you! I hope you were able to spend some time the kitchen making some yummy fun treats for your family.

Some Outdoor Spring Fun

It was one of the prettiest days we've had in a while, so we decided to take in some Vitamin D. Hannah had been sick for several days, getting outdoors was a welcomed change.

They planted watermelon, blueberries, and snow-peas.
The girls "drove" their vehicles over to the garden to help out with the work.
The girls enjoyed painting their "pet" rocks, which we will display in their garden. Hannah had A LOT of fun in the paint. In fact, I will have to repaint the wall white in front of the window from Hannah's excitement!
Mark was able to get free tickets to the Gwinnett Braves Game one night, so we took a night at the ball park. We made it the entire 9 innings - it is innings - right??!!!
The girls had fun trying on hats at the thrift store one day.
Hannah looks like she is going out to the rice fields, and Sarah looks like she is going out dancing!

Spring Break with Baba and Papa

Sarah had the week off from school for spring break, so we headed over to Augusta to spend several days with Baba and Papa.

Baba and I took the girls, Trey, and Morgan to play Putt-Putt one day. Hannah and Sarah actually made a hole in one once.




We had a fabulous time spending a few days in Evans. Baba and Papa took all of us to see the movie, "HOP". The girls enjoyed it. They had fun hunting for Easter eggs, riding the golf-cart down to the lake, feeding the ducks, playing with cousins, and helping Papa in the yard. I thoroughly enjoyed having the extra help.
We came back home through the sweet little town of Madison, which I love! So, we decided to take our time and enjoy the trip home. We had lunch at a cafe outside and visited a consignment shop. I could have spent a whole lot more time and of course, money if I had more of either of them.
