We spent Christmas Eve at our home making our traditional Jesus Birthday Cake. This year I found a really cute idea on-line (http://www.bukisa.com/articles/392504_bake-a). As you can see, Hannah was not happy about leaving the M&M's on the cake. She wanted to eat all of them instead. Sarah was of course, dressed in her fanciest dress-up dress, "Princess Tangled," that she just received from her cousins Trey & Morgan.
We obviously made the cake in the shape of a cross. We used chocolate cake mix, which represents the sin in our lives. Then we iced the cake with fluffy white icing to represent Jesus wiping our sins away white as snow. We put red M&M's representing the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. I cut out an orange angel using a cookie cutter and fondant to represent the angels proclaiming Jesus' birth. I also cut out a yellow star using fondant to represent the star that the 3 wise men followed to worship Jesus. Finally, we sprinkled green sprinkles over the top of the cake to represent the eternal life we receive from Jesus. I also put evergreen clippings around the bottom of the cake. I removed them after Mark mentioned the possibility of bugs - EEKKK!!!!
Our family tradition has been to sit around the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and listen to Mark read the Christmas story. It was so special this year, because Sarah is really starting to ask more questions and be inquisitive about the real meaning of Christmas. We can tell that the Lord is doing a work in her heart. The three most important people in my life cuddling on the couch watching Rudolph, eating popcorn, and sipping hot chocolate on Christmas Eve! Love it!!!
We had a white Christmas. The snow started falling around 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Day and continued through the night and into the next day. It was truly beautiful! It has not snowed here on Christmas Day since 1882.
