New Pet
On the way home from the pool one day, we "rescued" a turtle in the middle of the road. I say "rescued," because the turtle is probably thinking, "why didn't they just leave me a lone and let me cross the street in peace."
We got home and immediately placed it in a container, so we could research to find out the species of turtle.
Sarah is learning how to handle the turtle with the assistance of our sweet neighbor, Mrs. Marcia. After researching turtles, we discovered it is a Florida Box Turtle, and one could possibly get salmonella from touching it!!! EEEKKK!!! No more touching - look from a far!!!
Mark - being the wonderfully devoted Daddy that he is - built a large 5'x8' habitat for the turtle. So, "Joshua" the turtle is living in our backyard in his mansion of a habitat. Our neighbor friend, Chloe came over for the turtle fun!
Sarah wanted to name him "Joshua" after a little boy in her pre-k class who loved turtles. We are trying to convince Sarah that we need to release "Joshua" into the wilderness so he can properly survive, but we get tears each time it is brought up. So, we'll see what happens..... Stay tuned for more of "Joshua The Turtle Saga"!
